The Appearance of the Good Shepard in the Sanctuary
The Appearance of the Good Shepard in the Sanctuary – You have probably noticed the bas-relief votive candle holder on the Church Baptismal Font. It is a rendering of artist George Carruth’s that is in the Good Shepard Chapel in Washington’s National Cathedral. It has been place on the Font to remind us of our baptism and the love Christ holds for each one of His sheep. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, do so.
MUSIC NOTES
MUSIC NOTES
October saw a great diversity of music in our sanctuary. On the 14th we had a wonderful “Jazz Vesper Service.” On the 28th we had our 175th Anniversary Celebration Service that included the Choir and the Bell Choir. Many thanks to Beth Head for preparing the Bell Choir to “Ring Praises”.
On November 11th Pastor Stan will be leading a service at Syracuse Home and it would be wonderful to have some singers to lead the residents (who love to sing!). Just a reminder, choir rehearsal is on Wednesday night at 7 PM.
Syncopation 2 Samuel 6
Since people have asked about the poem I read at the Jazz Vespers on Sunday, October 14. Here it is… Pastor Stan
Syncopation 2 Samuel 6
Shirley Carr
This syncopated place serves
As a result of His mercy,
And graceful composition.
For the position of written notes,
Wrote by the first Jazz player.
Putting harmonic improves,
That rob all logical process.
Standing less of ourselves,
And more of He…
The sermonic chorus,
That ushers in the presence of His Glory.
This is the real story…
The Song For My Father…
The first jazz player,
Who’s rhythmic momentum,
Makes you want to dance.
Bombarded by just a glance of His love,
That leaps boundlessly through the valleys of death.
His very breath breathes life into useless instruments.
That now become the ensemble to carry His lyrics
He is the first Jazz Player.

Let you life speak
Let your life speak…” All of us will experience the event known as death in our lives… it is not the end of our lives, but only an opening to eternal life with God. We have created a special file at the Church where you can state what readings you want (Biblical or secular), what music you want (hymns or secular), if you have something you wish to say and have read at your funeral/memorial service. It is a wonderful gift to your loved ones who are grieving and dealing with all the other “business” of dealing with a person’s death to know that this is how their beloved person wishes to be remembered. There is no charge for this at all. Plans can be added to and changed over time as you would like. “Let your life speak…”
Trash & Treasure
Trash & Treasure was a great success. Thank you to everyone for all your donations. Thank you to all those who helped set up, work during the sale and take down this is a lot of hard work and greatly appreciated. We made $1035.35 which make it all worth it . God is still speaking.

Greeting from Korea #4
Greetings from Korea #4
November 2012
Dear Family in Phoenix,
Things have moved so quickly since coming back to Korea. The day before I left New York my Dad called my Uncle in Florida and said, “Come pick me up!” I was so glad to get the house up for sale and Dad felt comfortable enough to move to Florida. He is now settled in and doing well. Thank you so much for your prayers and the support of so many of you!
I want to give you an update of what is happening at Ulsan English Fellowship. So many things have been going on! On Thursday mornings we have had a Korean language class for foreigners for a few months, but recently the Korean teacher had to stop. I didn’t want to see the students let down so I told them “Between us I think we can manage to teach each other.” Everyone agreed and we continued class. Thanks be to God a Korean teacher at my school heard about our dilemma and offered to step in. The classes are free to anyone and a few students have kindly given money to the church to pay for electricity and such. That was a blessing. Another blessing that I am very excited about is Thursday evenings, starting November 1st, I will be leading an English Bible study at Eon Yang Full Gospel Church.
A prayer request: I have been visiting other churches and doing monthly special Sunday School English services. The situation is changing and possibly we will start our own Sunday School program in December. Pray for God’s direction and clear guidance in this matter. Thank you!
On October 16th I gave a short presentation about Ulsan English Fellowship at the South District Police Department Foreign Community Leaders Club meeting. This group is the first in the nation to invite foreign community leaders to participate in a think tank on how to communicate better with foreigners living in Korea regarding the laws of the land and to help gather information on how to better serve the needs of the variety of foreigners making Ulsan their home. Along with our church the local Islamic centers are represented, the Ulsan Filipino Association, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Vietnamese Associations, T-Hope an English Teacher volunteer association, the Ulsan Parents Club (Multi-cultural families) and the Ulsan International Volunteer Association. Many of the leaders meet at various functions and festivals throughout the year and try to support each as much as possible. Right now the groups together represent over 2000 foreigners living in Ulsan. Currently there are 20,000 foreign residents from 93 countries – Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese are the biggest groups.
And get this! On October 16th I asked in the Foreign Community Leaders Club if they had information about any multicultural families receiving services from any of the children’s social welfare centers. At that moment no one knew but it was new information to think about. Two days later Seoknam texts me and asks if I know any Filipinos. Maria the association president and I have known each other for years. She had just explained on the 16th that the local Filipino community was raising funds to support people in the Philippines devastated by this year’s typhoons. They were looking for local Koreans to get involved. Well Tuesday the 23rd I met with Maria and Seoknam to discuss their partnership, because when Seoknam texted me he told me he wanted to also develop and international outreach to disadvantaged kids in the Philippines! Ulsan is a happening place!
I am very excited to be here in Korea doing what I do and being able to share this with you! I will end right here even though there are many other things going on! Oh yes! Except for this - November 19th is our One Year Anniversary. We will be celebrating on the 18th which in Korea is Thanksgiving Sunday. We will host a Thanksgiving dinner at the church and have an outreach to the foreign community.
Thank you so much for your prayerful support.
Much peace and many blessings till next time!
Kevin in Korea
Thank You
Thank you to Lenora Schuchert, Donna Cooper, Peg and Dick Scheffler, Carolyn Battreall, Donna Hart and Sharon Candee for all their help with the preparation for the 175th anniversary of the church. All year our activities were prepared with the 175th in mind. The quilt show, Jazz Fest, Posters, stories of the past, pot luck, book marks and much more.
Thank you to Terry Zellar for getting the 175th pot luck ready and to all those who helped with clean up.
The children loved the Pumpkin farm again this year. The weather did not bother them at all. Thank you to the Hanville Family
